Request some details in order to extend the 404 redirect

Is there an API or method where i can search for a match found against URL browsed and do some fancy stuffs like:

  1. Search for url: http://mysite.com/news/news-item1
  2. If this page is not found somehow i can get hold of the result that page is not found or "404" and then search for page /news-item1/ in the site and if page found redirect to that page.

I am trying to look for method which i can access in Global.asax and make custom redirect.

Please provide some suggestion along with your feedback.

Is there a way which just enables the Redirect to work if there are entry in the gadget with old url and new url and not perform the 404 redirect. For me the redirect to a view is not working so was thinking of handling just the redirect as per url added else default nature of error handling on website to work.

Appreciate any help or guidance.

I'm not sure if I understand what you need to do. However, the only form of API that you could use is to use what is in BVNetwork.FileNotFound.DataStore.DataStoreHandler. Or you could query the dynamic data store directly.
