404 handler and globalization

Reported by: oyvind@… Owned by: permagne@…
Priority: minor Component: 404Handler
Keywords: Globalization, 404 Cc:

When having globalization websites you can have simple address that are the same for different domains; f.ex. www.company.no/products and www.company.com/products. In the 404 handler it should be possible to redirect these to different url's.

A good idea, but not that easy to do. Currently the redirects are domain ignorant, and we would need to add the domain as a parameter to the redirect.

Maybe a "Language" drop down with:

  • All
  • www.site.no

Where the values are fetched from the siteHostMapping/sitehosts in episerverFramework.config. The redirect logic would be a little more complex, as we would need to fetch all matching urls for all languages, and then find which one to apply. It is doable though, especially if we have someone that are willing to pay for this functionality.

Added in the latest version. No dropdown - but you can specify the address as you wish in the gadget.
