Learn Basic Wiki Markup in 5 Minutes

Almost everywhere on CodeResort we use Wiki Markup to enter text. It allows for simple and easy plain-text based input that gets converted and nicely formatted for display.

We've now made a simple 5 minute tutorial for you to get started with text input, formatting and linking - as a basic introduction to those unfamiliar with wiki markup, or as a refresh for those who have used other wikis but are unfamiliar with our markup syntax.

The tutorial is available in Help for each project as HowTo/5MinutesWikiMarkup.

Happy reading and writing!

Great post - very useful (and it actually took 5 minutes!)

I would like to add though that it is possible to write text by switching to WYSIWYG mode in the editor (for us that is not so hot on special syntax's).

Thanks for the feedback :-)

I've added a note about the WYSIWYG editor to the bottom of the tutorial.

Helpful info! ;-)

Is it possible that this link could appear at the bottom of the wiki-editor (replacing or extending "Note: See HelpUser/WikiFormatting and HelpUser/Wiki for help on editing wiki content.")?

Good idea! I've extended the notice as you suggested, and also made a notice on the wiki formatting reference page linking to the tutorial for a general introduction.
